Carta del Pastor, septiembre 2010

Estimada familia en Cristo:

Durante el mes de agosto fuimos todos llamados a orar por varios miembros de nuestra parroquia que han estado enfermos. Nuestras oraciones de peticiones, alabanza y agradecimiento fueron escuchadas, y nos alegramos por el bello don que Dios nos ha dado. Estos son los momentos que nos llaman a regocijarnos siempre en el Señor, quien constantemente nos muestra lo mucho que El nos ama. Frecuentemente nuestra impaciencia nos bloquea, pero el Señor sabe cuando es el debido tiempo para responder. Durante este último mes hemos estado también orando por el Sínodo General que se aproxima, y algunos miembros de la parroquia han estado leyendo el material que nos han enviado el Primado y nuestro Obispo. A la vez que oramos por el Sínodo hemos estado también orando por vocaciones, y en la actualidad hemos recibido la petición de dos sacerdotes de México quienes están interesados de ser incardinados en el PNCC. Ellos también tienen contacto con otros sacerdotes que posiblemente serán considerados en el futuro también. El Obispo Peplowski nos ha informado también de un sacerdote de Dallas que desea unirse a nuestra diócesis, y otro sacerdote de Australia quien está en el proceso de incardinación. Como en el pasado, PNCC ha ayudado a varios sacerdotes ordenados a que entren a los EEUU y al Canadá para ayudar a servir las necesidades del pueblo. Tenemos la esperanza que le podamos extender la misma hospitalidad a los que tienen orígenes Latino Americanos. Tenemos varias parroquias que necesitan de sacerdotes de habla hispana, y aquí vemos que Dios nos está enviando los labradores que nos ayudarán a cumplir con ese llamado. Oremos que podamos responder debidamente.

El 28 de agosto el párroco y el subdiácono viajaron a Eagle Pass (EEUU) para reunirse con el Padre Amara Rojas y con su familia y amistades de los EEUU y México. Fue también la boda del Padre Amaro, ya que en el PNNCC aceptamos sacerdotes casados. Le deseamos al Padre Amaro y a su esposa Rosie bendiciones y felicidad abundante para todo una vida. También nos reunimos con el Padre Oscar Castillo quien viajó desde Saltillo, México para encontrarse con nosotros, ya que él también está considerando ser incardinado en el PNCC. Padre Amaro ya es residente de los EEUU, y Padre Oscar ha vivido en Denver, Colorado donde él ha hecho estudios de post-graduado y labor clínica como consejero de abuso de substancias.

Nos alegramos por las sanaciones que han tomado lugar en la vida de Dolores Chávez, Dora y Alberto Pérez, Imelda Castro, Marco y Cristina Rodríguez, y muchos otros que han sido bendito por la sanación que viene de Dios. Aun oramos por Roxann y Oscar Obledo, las cirujías que se aproximan para Alberto y Marco, por Mayra y; Willie Caneto y su familia, para todos los miembros de la parroquia que han pedido que oremos por ellos.

NOTICIAS: El Padre Amaro Rojas y su esposa han decidido donar un riñón al pastor. Al principio ellos pidieron que se quedara en secreto, pero ya que el proceso ha comenzado, el pastor sintió que sería apropiado informar a todos quienes han estado interesados en orar por nosotros para un resultado positivo.
El proceso pueda que tome de 1 mes a 3. Por favor, oren por nosotros. También, la comunidad Puertorriqueña de San Antonio, y varios miembros de la parroquia, va tener una actividad para ayudarnos.
Una promesa hecha a Nuestra Madre será cumplida cuando sepamos que se llevará a cabo, el párroco se afeitará toda la cabeza. Gracias por sus oraciones y el apoyo.

About our Parish

History of St. Martin & St. Rose Parish PNCC

The origin of St. Martin and St. Rose Parish goes back to November 3, 1981 when a group of Roman Catholic laity, together with Reverend R. Augustin Sicard (an ex-Marianist), began a group of consecrated individuals. This group became known as the Samaritan Ministers and Missionaries, organized in honor of St. Martin de Porres and St. Rose of Lima, two Peruvian Dominican religious. The first establishment was on northwest San Antonio. By 1990 they had outgrown their place, and began a search for a larger place. At that time Father had been working with Father Rafael Ruiz at Lutheran General Hospital. Together with Father Celestino Treviño, an ex-Franciscan, they began to dialogue with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) for a Church. In 1993 ELCA vacated a property in southwest San Antonio and asked us to look at the site. Within that same month, a group of the parish committee got together and made arrangements to see the site. In May of 1994 we agreed to move forward with the purchase of the property, which included the Church building, a rectory apartment, and a hall. The 25 years note on the mortgage was carried by ELCA.

During the same period of time in 1994, the parish committee had begun dialogue with Bishop Thaddeus Peplowski for possible incorporation with the Polish National Catholic Church. Between 1972 and 1981, Father had worked with PNCC members in Toronto, Canada, and had made a previous attempt at dialogue with Prime Bishop Francis Rowinski. This dialogue was never completed, and it was not until 1995 that direct contact was made with the Bishop Ordinary of the Buffalo-Pittsburgh Diocese. Bishop Peplowski set up a number of meetings, and in June of 1996 St. Martin and St. Rose was officially established as a parish of the PNCC. From 1994 to 2005 mortgage payments were made to ELCA, but in 2005 they forgave our mortgage and allowed us to keep the parish and hall at the price of the payments already made.

The Samaritan Missionaries have made contact with a number of Roman Catholic diocesan priests in Mexico, and has helped establish three (3) parishes in the name of St. Martin and St. Rose Parish. These parish are now named: St. Rose of Lima, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and Holy Cross. Many donations have been made of monies and property goods for these establishments, and a number of missionary trips have been made on behalf of St. Martin and St. Rose Parish.

The Joint Declaration on Unity is an effort by the Polish National Catholic Church and the Roman Catholic Church to mutually recognize the unity in faith and morals in the Body of Chirst. This process has brought us to look at what unites us, rather than what separates us. We mutually accept the validity of all of the sacraments, the dogmas of the first seven Ecumenical Councils, and the teachings that has been handed down since the Apostles… If read carefully one will see that the effort to find the common ground has been very fruitful, and it continues as we move to unity in diversity. The difference between the two bodies is simply adminitrative, but not in matters of faith and morals.
